The Rotary Club of Sarasota Foundation and All Faiths Food Bank

Making sure that all students have healthy meals is crucial to learning and preventing chronic absences. The Rotary Club of Sarasota Foundation and All Faiths Food Bank are working with the Sarasota County Campaign for Grade-Level Reading Coalition to promote school readiness, combat learning loss, and prevent chronic absences.

The Rotary Club of Sarasota has partnered with Alta Vista Elementary School and the Food Bank since 2010. The club provides funding and volunteers for its Back Pack Kids Nutritional Food Program and the School-Based Pantry so students can avoid going hungry after school. Rotarians also assist with Alta Vista's Eagle Academy, a specialized program designed to minimize summer reading loss. This type of support from the Community Foundation of Sarasota, the Rotary Club of Sarasota and other organizations has helped Alta Vista and staff achieve Five Star, A-Ratings four years in a row.
